You know, life can be crazy. It can give you amazing times or luck, completely screw you for no reason, or surprise you. But this? It's all 3 in one go. Does that make sense to you? Probably not. Well, anyways, my name is Tristan, and I am.......a completely normal human who just fell into random uncertain circumstances. Seriously. I have basically nothing special. I'm pretty damn clever, but all that's done for me is get me through the 12 years of hell that is the American schooling system. You probably don't care about that, do you? I'm surprised that there will probably be people still reading this instead of skipping to the good part. I could hide a message here and most would just have skipped over it. Maybe I will next time there's a long unnecessary paragraph of introduction.
Okay, so I live in South Carolina. Yes, this is where Myrtle Beach is. No, we don't go to the beach all year. Got it? Okay. It was a rather sad time, the woods where me and my friends always played was about the be cut down and replaced with houses. I was walking through it one last time, for nostalgia and all that. I decide to go over to this one part of the woods. What's weird about it is, anytime we go over there, we get a feeling that it's better to stay away, or there isn't even anything there that's worth it. Speaking of which, I'm starting to get that feeling now. Maybe there isn't anything here. I could just be crazy. I'm heading....no no gotta stay focused. I keep pushing ahead, deeper into the forest. I'm gonna finally find out what's giving us that weird feel..AAAAAHH!!!! A large hole just came out of nowhere! Maybe I should have listened to that feeling! I don't want to die like this! I was starting to see the bottom, and I had many regrets. I wish I had told my crush I loved her. I wish I had paid back the 20 bucks I owed. I wish I had waited until the trees were gone to get over here....The bottom was close now.....I closed my eyes and accepted my fate.....
I started to wake up, somehow, to a woman's voice. "First those guys are about to reveal my location, now some random curious loser gets through my shield, ugh, I am having the worst day....Oh hey, you're awake. Great." she said.
"W-where am I?" I say, nervous.
"Down a hole. Now get up. At the very least I get to test this on you instead of myself."
"Why should I help you? And what would I even be testing?" I say before I start floating in the air. "What's happening?!"
"Look, you fell into my home, and I've already got to deal with the guys with saws and axes that are gonna be here soon so shut up."
I fall back to the ground, shocked. "H-how d-did you j-just do t-that?"
"Magic, duh. Haven't you ever met a witch?" A witch? What was she talking about?
"A witch? Aren't those myths, like dragons and politicians with souls?"
"Myths?!" she said, looking rather offended. "Have I seriously been down here so long that there are no more witches left in this world?"
"Last I heard of witches was the trials in, like 1692."
"1692! I've been here for 20 years!?"
"Wait, you haven't been to the surface since 1672? Lady, it's 2016!"
"WHAT! I'VE BEEN HERE FOR OVER 300 YEARS?! NO WONDER YOUR CLOTHES LOOK SO WEIRD! IS THIS WAS SOCIETY HAS TURNED INTO?"
"I'M MORE CURIOUS AS TO HOW YOU'VE BEEN ALIVE FOR 300 YEARS, YOU SOUND ABOUT MY AGE! AND I'M EFFING 18!"
"GODDAMN MAGIC, THAT'S WHAT! NOW I'M GONNA GRAB THE THING I'M TESTING ON YOU!" she says, heading around a corner. After a couple minutes, she comes back with two bottles with glowing purple liquid inside them. She gives one to me. "Drink it."
"What is it? And why is there two?"
"It was in case I dropped one like I tend to do, but now, if it works I'm gonna use it on myself. It's supposed to enhance one's magical abilities to unseen levels, but now we see what happens when someone without magic powers drinks it."
"So it might kill me?"
"Can I at least know your name before I drink it?"
"Lucy Valence, why?"
"To recommend you for hell if I die." I say, opening the bottle and chugging the whole thing. "Huh, tasted pretty good actually."
"Do you feel any different? Like, at all?"
"No, nothing...wait, my head hurts a little."
"Hold on, let me make it easier to see you." She says. Fire appears in what I see is her hand. She looks rather nice, with blue eyes, and oddly white hair. Other than that she could pass for a really pale normal person. "I think your hair is turning closer to mine, and getting longer?"
I reach out and grab my hair, which I am able to pull in front of my face now. "AAAAAHH! What's going on!?'
Lucy facepalms. "One of the ingredients was the blood of who should drink it, which is me, so it must be turning you into me so that it actually works."
"Does that mean..." I start to say, but then I notice my voices sound like hers.
"Yes, you're turning into a copy of me." she says. I promptly faint.
I wake up some time later, with her slapping me. "Wake up! Wake up! Wake up!" she says in between slaps.
"I'm up!" I say, again shocked at my new voice.
"Okay, now I'm going to see what you remember. Who are you?"
"My name is Tristan, I live in South Carolina, and I'm 18 years old."
"Where are we?"
"Some hole in the woods that you live in."
"Okay then, I don't think your memory was affected."
"That's nice...NOW FIX ME!"
"I've been trying! It's not like I want another me, especially one that can't even help with my work."
"Well, it was research and development of new spells and potions, but I guess I'm adding revive the witch and wizard population and documenting the modern world."
"And you're not trying to convince the guy..er..girl that's lived in said world to help?"
"No I'm..actually that makes a lot of sense."
"And you kinda screwed me out of going back to my normal life, so you want help, or not?
"Yes! And well, I kinda owe you for that, so I'll teach you how to use your new powers."
"Hey! I found a big hole over here!" a voice we both didn't know said.
"I'd say that'd be rather useful at the moment." I say.
